For some of us establishing a regular workout routine can be daunting when we first think about it, especially if we've developed contrary habits over a long period of time, it can be difficult to know what to do before starting. Fortunately, with focus and determination we can easily set attainable goals and work through them at our own pace. This article will help us do just that without spending a fortune on gym memberships and trainers.

Here are 5 helpful tips to help us get started.

Tip 1) Set a Healthy Goal

Choose an exercise goal and a timeframe in which to accomplish it. This can be totally different for each person. Maybe you want to build muscle, maybe you want to lose weight, or maybe you want to keep your body fit and healthy. Having a clear goal will motivate you to continue exercising even when you don't feel like it. Aim for something specific like: run a half-marathon in 6 months, or perform 30 push-ups per minute in 3 weeks.
Aim to set healthy goals for yourself. Don’t try to lose an excessive amount of weight in a short amount of time. If you’re uncertain whether an exercise or weight-loss goal is healthy or not, check with your doctor.

Tip 2) Workout at home

If you wish to save money or you have financial constraints, choose to workout from home. You can purchase a few small weights and do simple exercises, walk around your neighborhood, or go for a nice bike ride. You can also purchase barbells or dumbbells at a local sport-supply store. If you’re more inclined towards cardio, purchase a jump rope and jump for 15–20 minutes a day. Again, consult with your doctor to determine the best exercise suitable for your age, weight and physical attributes.

Tip 3) Find an accountability partner

It’s easy to get burned out on exercise if you’re doing it alone. To prevent this fatigue, find a friend who wants to start an exercise program too. Having a friend or 2 around to work out with will help keep you accountable and ensure that you stick to your exercise schedule.

Tip 4) Develop an exercise schedule

Select days and times when you can exercise. This will help you to develop a habit. In order to integrate this into your lifestyle, you'll need to make it a priority. To do this, set aside a time at least a few days a week. For example, plan to walk for a half hour every morning. Getting over the initial hump will be the hardest part. If you exercise periodically, whenever you feel like it, you'll fail to start an effective habit.

Tip 5) Start with simple exercises

For general-purpose exercise, it's best to develop a well-rounded exercise regimen. As you figure out what exercises you prefer, you can later tailor your regimen and goals towards these exercises. Focus on strength training and cardio workouts at first.

*Pro Tips

  • Try incorporating cardio activity into your workouts. Start out simple with walking for 20-30 minutes, 3-5 times a week.
  • Incorporate strength-training exercises with free weights into your weekly workouts as well. Exercise all of your major muscle groups (chest, arms, legs, and core) at least 2–3 times a week.

Choosing Your Workout Clothing

Choose workout clothes that accommodate comfort, fit and of course style. Although workout clothes is less about the fashion and more about the functionality, looking great in your attire can help boost your confidence when on your mission to lose weight.

That's where We come in! We're keen on helping you choose the right workout clothes by considering fabric, fit and comfort.

Our fitness series incorporates moisture wicking fabric that help draw sweat away from the body while keeping it cool during workouts. Some items such as our sports bras are made with polypropylene to help manage the body's temperature.

Opt in for one of our eco-friendly tees for comfort and low intensity workouts.

If you're inclined to more low intensity workouts such as walking and stretching, you'd want to opt in for one of our soft and comfortable cotton tees. These are great choices if you don't anticipate sweating a lot.
Always pay attention to fit. Depending on your own body image and personal style, you may prefer workout clothing that are loose, and covers most of your body. Or, you might want to wear fitted outfits that allow you to see your muscles and curves as you exercise, we have both!
Again, while function and fit are the most important elements, you want to feel good while you are exercising, otherwise you might be tempted to cut your workout short. So, choose clothing that you find attractive and suit your body shape.
